Year in Review

December Blog

Dear friends and associates:

The year 2011 is coming to an end and may I say that this has been a very exciting one for us at Wilkuro Safety Toes.

In recapping, I suppose the biggest achievement has been in obtaining the CSA accreditation which gives our products greater acceptability in the Safety Toe marketplace. All  Wilkuro Safety Toes now carry the CSA logo proudly embedded on their  sides. Furthermore we built a testing laboratory on site to carry out the necessary tests as required by CSA. A couple of audits by CSA affirmed the quality, reliability and ruggedness of the Wilkuro Safety Toe. We are the first Safety Toe overshoe to receive the prestigious CSA seal of approval, showing our unwavering commitment to providing the best quality product at a reasonable cost.

As well, Wilkuro Safety Toes reached new safety heights when they were worn by intrepid reporters who were assessing a new and exciting venture at the CN Tower in Toronto.

Click on the attached and you will be able to see these brave souls walking around with safety straps and feet protected by Wilkuro. As you may or may not know, the CN Tower is one of the world’s tallest free standing structures and having reporters wear our products certainly makes us very proud indeed.

In the October/November issue of  Canadian Occupational Safety,  the Wilkuro Safety Toe was prominently featured as the first Safety overshoe to receive CSA Grade 1 Certification.

Again, we are very proud to have been given exposure in this prestigious magazine.

Globally, we opened new distributorships in Brazil, Venezuela, Guatemala, the Philippines, Scotland and had sales in many other parts of the world.

In closing, I would be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge the support and loyalty we received from all our customers who helped to make this year so specially successful.

A big THANKS to all of you!!!!!!

We look forward to 2012 as we believe it will be as good or even better than this year.

August Blog

Dear Friends and Colleagues, it has been some time since we communicated with you and we want to assure you that it was not entirely intentional but we were waiting for official approval by CSA of our Wilkuro Safety Toe.
The approval was officially sent to us on July 29, 2011 and it is prominently and proudly displayed when you click on and get to the Home page.

Click on “Now CSA Grade 1 Certified” and follow to CSA Certification.
The Wilkuro Safety Toe is the first product of its kind to be certified by CSA and we are extremely proud of this achievement as it shows our firm commitment to providing our customers with the best and safest steel toe overshoe in the market.

Since its conception, the Wilkuro Safety Toe has led the marketplace in innovation and creativity.

  • We made the first Safety Toe Overshoe.
  • We were the first to provide colour coding for sizing purposes and ease of identification. All imitators are now using the same color coding scheme as a standard to peddle their wares.
  • We introduced the XXL and XXXL and again the imitators followed suit.
  • We make our product in white PVC and to our knowledge no one else does this.
  • Now, we are the first to obtain CSA Certification.

Within a few weeks we will be introducing our overshoes with the prestigious CSA logo embedded prominently. We can hardly wait!!!

In the past we spent a portion of this Blog pointing out flaws and deficiencies in our imitators’ products. Well, no more, as we firmly believe that buying one of their products should provide sufficient proof that a repeat purchase will not be necessary. As they used to say at Circus Maximus, “Caveat emptor” (buyer beware).

BTW, just a little correction. Our former bookkeeper keeps referring to our product as having “plastic” toes. He used to sell our product so he should know that it is made of steel with a powder coating base on it and it is securely affixed to the overshoe and not just flimsily covered by whatever material he uses. I guess he is bitter because one of his largest distributors has gone and copied our product. This was done, I suppose, to copy a successful product such as ours.

They in fact told us they were dismayed at the complaints they were receiving about the toe not being affixed to the bookkeeper’s product.

Wilkuro Safety Toes Inc. just closed its fiscal year and we are very happy to report that the results exceeded our highest expectations. We want to thank you sincerely for your support and belief in our products and pledge to continue providing unsurpassed quality and service at all times.

March Madness

Dear friends and associates, let me bring you up to date on the interesting world of safety toe overshoes.

Recently, yet another imitator came out of the woodwork and his marketing strategy is to undercut prices. We have no problem with this as we’ll match him dollar for dollar.

We have been rather fortunate over the years to  have developed an excellent rapport with our distributors. Some of them have called us and made us aware of our newest imitator’s offerings.

Let me quote from an email we received from one of our customers:

“I am looking at records showing that we first brought in your product in February of 2006. Your company has provided us with a great product and excellent service for a number of years and I would like for us to continue to do business together.”

We humbly thank this buyer for his honesty and integrity. As well we have also received similar comments from other associates.

We take pride in the fact that our product is made in North America with components mainly from Mexico, the USA and Canada. We believe that we can compete favourably with Asian and other knockoffs as they cannot duplicate our quality and service. We have had offers to make our product in Asia and elsewhere but we strongly believe that in order to control quality and service you have to be a hands-on Manager. You cannot manage effectively these factors from a long distance.

The latest imitator was selling our former bookkeeper’s products, the ones with a removable toe, and in spite of our pointing this out to him, he continued to do so until he was able to get someone in China to copy our product to the last detail, including the use of stretchy and durable PVC.

The colour coding for size is identical to ours but he only carries 6 sizes and not 7 (XXXL) like we do.

We also offer our product in white PVC, pink toes for ladies and now with a composite toe.

We can do this because we are committed to this business and not as a sideline for other wares.

Rest assured that we will continue to provide you with unsurpassed quality and service as well as, a very competitive price. All this and made in North America to boot.

On another note, we have begun to export to our distributors in Brazil and our first order is on its way.

We anticipate Brazil to be a great market and would like to thank our colleagues at H3E for their marketing strategy and efforts. Muchas Gracias!!

Until the next time!!!

PS: I would be remiss if I didn’t send a warm St. Patrick’s Day greeting to all our Irish friends and sympathizers. Cheers!!!!

February Blues

Dear friends and associates, it is my distinct pleasure to once again update you with what is going on at Wilkuro.

The past couple of months have been very busy with several projects we are working on and for which details will follow.

As suspected, yet another copycat has emerged on the scene and he has the nerve to call his company innovative. Well, this was expected and did not surprise us at all. Suffice it to say, we are the originals and our product is made in North America.

We are pleased to announce that we have representation in Brazil through H3E, in Sao Paolo and they have started an extensive marketing campaign. This represents a breakthrough for us in a potential market of 180 million customers. We wish Elenita and Einar da Silva all the best. We have a feeling that they have the knowledge and enthusiasm to be very successful. To get in touch with them, please check our website or contact us.

As well, our European representative at AKTA Trading in Holland is forging ahead and his sales have surpassed previous years’ results. We sincerely thank him for his endeavours and look forward to another successful year.

It has indeed been a pleasure to work with Rob Wismeijer and his staff to promote our product in the European market.

Please stay tuned as we will update you on upcoming shows in Europe where Rob will be showing our products.

Thank you for your attention and support.

December Update

Dear friends and associates, first of all, we at Wilkuro would like to thank all of you for the successful year we have had.

We measure success not only by the sheer volume sold but by other parameters such as percentage of order filled in full, low customer returns and claims, repeat business and increase in new sales. All of these surpassed our expectations and we look forward to continuing to provide the same level of excellence and quality for years to come. Thank you!!!!

We have had our overshoe tested with a composite toe and it passed the drop and compression tests with flying colors. We are therefore ready to offer this product to our distributors starting in 2011.

The composite toe provides the same level of protection as the steel toe and yet it is much lighter and has some distinct advantages over the steel toe.

The composite toe will not be color coded for sizing but will only have the size stamped on the bottom of the overshoe.

As previously stated, we are working on several other projects besides the composite toe and should have some exciting news early in 2011.

Stay tuned.

In conclusion, all of us at Wilkuro want to wish all our associates, their families, and by extension their clients’ families, all the best of the Holiday Season and a healthy and prosperous New Year.

September News

Dear friends and associates, it has been some time since we have updated our blog but please accept our apologies and rest assured that it was not intentional.

The past fiscal year ending on July 31, 2010 was indeed an exceptionally busy one where we ventured into new frontiers and introduced a wider range of products to our customers.

We have sent several orders to South America, especially to our largest Distributor in Peru, Semark International.  Brazil, a country with a population of 180 million inhabitants has also been ordering the Wilkuro Safety Toe on a regular basis.

As well, our product has been featured at a Safety Show in Buenos Aires, Argentina and in early October will be part of the Semark Booth in Sao Paulo, Brazil.  Unfortunately I will not be able to personally participate at this show but will certainly be at the next one. Our European representatives, AKTA International are doing an excellent job covering Continental Europe as are our colleagues from Merseyside in England.

Sales of the XXXL have surpassed our expectations as we had to scramble on occasion to ensure we did not short any customers. There are several other exciting projects we are working on at this moment and in due time I will provide details as they evolve.

Once again, we would like to thank all our customers, associates and friends for the faith and support they have given us over the past year and please rest assured that we will continue to work towards providing you with the best quality product at the most economical price.

June Blog

Dear Friends: Please excuse the delay in posting this Blog but June has been an extremely busy month both in Sales and other activities even more important.

As most of you know, we have had for sometime representation in Europe (AKTA Trading),The UK (Merseyside), Mexico (Central de Suministros), Peru (Semark), Australia (Martor and Express Industrial Sales) and we have now added Equip SEC in the Dominican Republic.

Please contact us if you require service from any of these fine representatives.

In areas where we do not have representatives, we had no choice but to sell directly and this included South Africa, China, Thailand, India, Bangladesh, the Philippines, Japan and Brazil. We have also had orders through our reps into Chile and Argentina.

As well, we have many inquiries on a daily basis from the USA, Canada and Mexico and we are proud to say that we have superb coverage in all these areas.

What is truly gratifying is when a potential client calls from anywhere in the globe and he/she specifically requests the Wilkuro brand. This means a lot to us.

Jack and I attended three golf tournaments that support various charities.

We believe that you can have fun, partake of a physically healthy activity and at the same time help those less fortunate.

In early June we played at the Two/Ten Foundation of Canada Golf Tournament.

This is a charity whose motto is “Shoe People helping Shoe People”. It is the only industry that has its own charity to reach out to shoe people and their families to help out when there is a need for that help. Their bursary program has been a vital assistance and a welcome encouragement for the sons and daughters of parents working in shoe stores, factories and other sectors of the industry who want to pursue a dream of a higher education and need some help.

Every year, the Two/Ten Foundation of Canada donates between 35 and 40 thousand pairs of new boots and shoes to needy and deserving families across Canada.

In June 5 we helped to sponsor a Knights of Columbus Golf Tournament.

We were proud to be able to help the Knight of Columbus continue with their

Various charity endeavours and we have already pledged our support for the following year.

On June 21 we travelled to Woodstock, Ontario to partake in the first ever France-Anne Sweeny Memorial Foundation Golf Tournament.

Once again this is a really worthwhile cause in memory of France-Anne Sweeny, a young and energetic person who passed away tragically following an equestrian accident: a first class tournament that collected over $42,000 for several charities and the France-Anne Sweeny Foundation. We also look forward to participating next year.

As you can see, we have had a busy month but one filled with a sense of fulfilment and gratification.

If you wish to support any of these charities, please contact us for details.
